My Favorite Locations For Senior Photos in Chicagoland
The first — and possibly most important — step in planning your senior photo session is choosing the perfect location! The Chicagoland area has no shortage of beautiful backdrops, from stunning forest preserves to unique urban spots. No matter the style or vibe you're dreaming of, the Chicago suburbs have the perfect location to bring your senior photos to life.
St. James Farm Forest Preserve- Warrenville IL
From stunning tree canopies and rustic white fencing to colorful buildings, charming horse stalls, and wide open prairies, St. James Farm Forest Preserve truly has it all. It’s easy to see why this location is one of the most requested spots for senior photos. The best part? It’s beautiful year-round. Even in the colder months when the grass is brown and the trees are bare, there are still countless gorgeous backdrops for your photos.
Hurley Gardens- Wheaton IL
Tucked away in the middle of a quiet residential neighborhood, this beautiful hidden gem is a perfect location for a senior session. The manicured hedges, charming white structures, and rustic brick walkways create gorgeous backdrops year-round. In the spring and summer, the location truly comes alive with blooming magnolia trees, colorful flowers and beautiful fountain.
Danada Equestrian Center- Wheaton IL
Another stunning location for senior photos is Danada Equestrian Center. This spot is especially magical in the fall when the trees are filled with pops of red, gold, and orange, but it’s just as beautiful throughout the spring and summer. From the iconic white fences and sweeping prairies to the rustic horse barns, this location offers a perfect mix of natural beauty and charm.
Lilacia Park- Lombard IL
Another highly requested location for senior sessions—especially during April and May—is the gorgeous Lilacia Park. In early spring, the park comes alive with thousands of vibrant tulips and blooming lilac bushes that line its beautiful walking paths. Located right next to downtown Lombard, it’s the perfect location if you’re looking for a mix of stunning gardens and a charming downtown village atmosphere.
Waterfall Glen- Darien IL
If your senior is looking for a fun and adventurous creek session, Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve is a fantastic choice. One of my favorite things to do is hop right into the creek with my clients to capture beautiful, playful shots of them splashing in the water. On the walk to the creek, we’ll also pass several gorgeous spots that make perfect photo backdrops. This location is a great way to make your senior’s session truly unique.
Fabyan Forest Preserve- Geneva IL
Fabyan Forest Preserve is one of the most popular spots for photo sessions in the area. While the Japanese Garden requires a photography permit, the surrounding grounds are just as beautiful and provide plenty of amazing backdrops. Between the charming flowered arches, whimsical trees, and the stunning bridges—especially the iconic blue bridge—there are so many great spots for unique and fun photos.
Kline Creek Farm- West Chicago IL
If your senior is an animal lover and wants a session with animals like chickens and horses in the background, Kline Creek Farm is a perfect choice. This historic farm feels like stepping back in time with its beautiful farmhouse, rustic barns, and adorable farm animals. Just watch your step—the chickens love wandering along the paths and might try to steal the spotlight!
Mallard Lake Forest Preserve- Hanover Park IL
This beautiful forest preserve features winding paths, peaceful boat docks, charming bridges, and vibrant pops of purple and yellow flowers in the summer. It’s an amazing location for a sunset session, where the colorful sky creates a stunning backdrop—well, maybe just slightly off-center. Your senior will definitely be the one taking center stage at this gorgeous location!

Downtown Naperville offers the perfect mix of beautiful, winding pathways lined with lush flowers and greenery along the scenic DuPage River, combined with a fun urban setting full of charm, unique architecture, and a vibrant downtown vibe.
If you're looking for a location that gives you incredible variety in your gallery, this is one of my favorites! From nature-inspired portraits to stylish downtown backdrops, you'll get so many different looks without having to travel between locations.

If you love wide-open spaces, tall prairie grasses, and beautiful golden hour light, Springbrook Prairie is a fantastic location for senior photos. The scenic trails and native prairie create a natural, timeless backdrop that's especially stunning in late summer and fall. It's the perfect spot for seniors looking for a relaxed, outdoorsy, and boho-inspired feel.
Riverview Farmstead- Naperville IL
Riverview Farmstead is a beautiful location for seniors who want a mix of nature and rustic charm. The scenic walking paths, restored historic farm buildings, open green spaces, and beautiful views along the DuPage River provide plenty of variety for your gallery. It's a peaceful location that offers a timeless, natural backdrop for senior photos throughout the summer and fall.
Cantigny- Wheaton IL
Cantigny Park is a gorgeous location for senior photos if you’re looking for beautiful manicured gardens, colorful flowers, fountains, winding pathways, and elegant architecture all in one place. With so much variety throughout the park, there are endless opportunities for unique backdrops! Cantigny is especially beautiful from late spring through early fall, with June through September offering some of the best flowers and lush greenery. Fall is another great option, with seasonal flowers and beautiful autumn color appearing later in the season. A photography permit and a parking fee is required for sessions at this location.
